Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Hydraulic Mechanic to join our team. The Hydraulic Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic systems and components used in heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and vehicles. This role requires strong technical expertise, precision in mechanical work, and the ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, motors, valves, and related components.
- Perform disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of hydraulic components to manufacturer specifications.
- Test and calibrate hydraulic systems to ensure performance and safety standards are met.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on hydraulic equipment to minimize downtime.
- Fabricate and replace hydraulic hoses, fittings, and seals as needed.
- Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Operate diagnostic equipment to evaluate system efficiency and performance.
- Document work performed, parts used, and service recommendations in repair logs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring a clean and hazard-free workspace.
- Assist with training and mentoring junior mechanics or apprentices as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in hydraulics or mechanical repair preferred.
- Proven experience as a Hydraulic Mechanic or similar role in heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial machinery repair.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic principles, fluid power systems, and mechanical components.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in using hydraulic test stands, gauges, and specialized diagnostic tools.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to lift, move, and handle heavy components.
Preferred Certifications
- Fluid Power Society (FPS) certification or equivalent.
- OSHA or other workplace safety certifications.
- Manufacturer-specific hydraulic repair training.
Working Conditions
- Workshop, service center, or field environment depending on assignments.
- Exposure to hydraulic fluids, solvents, heavy equipment, and moving machinery.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- May require overtime, weekend, or on-call work based on client/service needs.
