The Assistant Boat Captain supports the safe, efficient, and professional operation of company vessels. This role ensures passenger safety, assists the Captain in navigation and operations, and maintains the vessel to company standards.
- Assist the Captain in operating boats safely under all weather and sea conditions
- Navigate according to company procedures and maritime regulations
- Ensure safe embarkation and disembarkation of passengers
- Monitor vessel performance and report abnormalities immediately
- Enforce all safety protocols for passengers and crew
- Conduct routine safety checks and emergency equipment inspections
- Maintain compliance with national maritime laws and company SOPs
- Perform daily checks on engines, fuel, electrical systems, and onboard equipment
- Maintain vessel cleanliness and readiness at all times
- Assist in minor repairs and coordinate with maintenance teams when needed
- Support the Captain in supervising deckhands and crew
- Provide excellent customer service to guests and passengers
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English
- Maintain logbooks, fuel records, and trip reports
- Report incidents, defects, and operational issues promptly
- Valid Inboard Engine License
- Valid Outboard Engine License
- Coastal Navigation Level 2 (or Niyami) certificate
- Physically fit and medically cleared for marine duties
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in marine operations or boating roles
- Proven experience handling vessels safely and confidently
- Strong understanding of maritime safety procedures
- Good command of spoken English
- Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and professional behavior
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Experience in resort or guest‑transfer operations
- Knowledge of basic engine troubleshooting
- Familiarity with GPS, VHF radios, and navigation systems
